About Tiggy

Tiggy’s love of gardening started from childhood.
Growing up in a Victorian house in Gloucestershire, her greatest joy was to be outside in the garden. Many happy hours were spent ‘helping’ the gardeners and asking them non-stop questions about what they were doing and what they were growing. This passion never left her and she went on to develop her own garden in Gloucestershire whilst bringing up her five children during the 1970’s and 80’s.

Her professional training as a gardener came from the Women’s Farm and Garden Association that run a scheme for Women Returns to Amenity Gardening and she later became a co-ordinator for them, overseeing the training of other women gardeners in Gloucestershire.

With her artistic flair and natural creativity, Tiggy wanted to be able to draw the ideas she had for the gardens she looked after. During a conversation with Duncan Heather at the Oxford College of Garden Design, he asked Tiggy how, and if the ideas she had for these gardens could be built. This appealed to the strong practical side of her nature and so in 1995 she signed up for his post graduate Diploma in Garden Design at Oxford Brookes.

Tiggy worked for six years as a full time designer before taking three years out to complete a BA degree in Illustration at UWE and during her last year she was asked to design a garden for a client in Gloucestershire. Unable to resist, she started on the project as soon as her degree finished and it was then that she knew where her heart and passions really lay – in gardens.
